This degree will prepare you to work in these industries, and to contribute to shaping the future in Australia and globally.The Associate Degree of Engineering is designed to meet the requirements for accreditation at the level of Engineering Associate by Engineers Australia. The course is structured around 16 key competencies identified by Engineers Australia as being essential to the graduating engineer, which are broadly grouped into knowledge and skills, application, personal and professional skills.The course is suited to school leavers or those with a trade qualification who are looking to enter the civil construction or manufacturing and production industries in a supervisory, project management or technical role, or progress their careers in these industries to the next level.Foundational core units build knowledge of the practical and technical skills and the processes and philosophy that underpin engineering systems. You’ll then choose a specialisation to build additional knowledge and skills needed to perform technical roles in a range of engineering systems relevant to your specialisation. Finally, you&#39;ll complete project-based units that will develop your skills in critical thinking, creative problem solving. and project management, and additionally complete a total of 30 days (240 hours) of professional placement in industry during your studies, ensuring you are ready to hit the ground running as a graduate.All students must complete compulsory on-campus residentials. These are typically conducted over 2-4 days and occur in the first year (based on a full-time study program).

Structural principles are conveyed through diagrams and simple equations. Students integrate their knowledge of structural principles with research of buildings to document and present the fundamental role of structure in architectural design.

Principles of Structure

This subject will provide you with the basic skills and concepts of Industry 4.0 technologies and their applications across any advanced manufacturing industry, from large-scale industrial operations, small businesses and the emerging sole traders in niche design industries. The subject focuses on practical applications, employing simulation tools to develop skills in electrical circuit analysis and digital control system design. You will explore the complexities of electrical circuits, covering fundamental concepts such as voltage, current, and impedance, and explore advanced topics like operational amplifiers, sensors, and actuators. The digital control systems component introduces the practical applications of digital control systems across industries, encompassing both hardware and software aspects. Electrical and Digital Control Systems

This subject provides students with knowledge of the fundamental concepts of statical stability and trim of intact and damaged floating structures and the associated practical implications and applications within a regulated environment. Career Options and Professional Identity

This subject introduces key concepts, processes and principles of industry 4.0 driven digital fabrication in a manufacturing environment. You will undertake remote, team-based project work to create fabricated objects that respond to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Team members based at our tech-solutions hub will liaise with you to determine your fabrication and assembly requirements and support you in developing your finished product. Equipment at this facility includes 3D printers for additive manufacturing, Co2 laser cutters and a recycled plastic press. You will determine the appropriate fabrication method based on your design requirements and submit plans for the fabrication process. To achieve this, you will develop and apply a range of skills and knowledge relating to: <ul><li>Computer Aided Design </li><li>Cloud based communication of digital fabrication information </li><li>The Design Thinking process </li><li>The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals </li><li>Quality assurance </li><li>Reflective practice </li></ul>Other practical learning activities include component fabrication, additive manufacturing, laser-cutting, and forming and shaping by using various materials and approaches. You will prepare required toolsets and machinery, manage the fabrication process end-to-end, analyse outputs and finished products, and evaluate their conformance to requirements for safety, quality, velocity and cost.  This subject also introduces learning through practice by exposing you to authentic learning experiences. These experiences are placed at the centre of learning and assessment, so you have the opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours necessary to respond to industry, community and/or global needs. Remote Sensing: observing the Earth from above

This subject provides an introduction to the current and emerging technologies impacting on the management and operations of the maritime and logistics industries. More specifically, the subject uses the concept of Industry 4.0 to explain the disruptive nature of the current industrial revolution that is rapidly transforming the business environment and providing new opportunities, in addition to understanding how to navigate the application and adoption of the new technologies and processes. Undertaking this subject will expose students to why and how the maritime and logistics industries are changing and will transform even further by, for example, artificial intelligence, smart everything, augmented reality, autonomous ships and underwater vehicles, and many more. Students will be required to reflect on the new Industry 4.0 technologies and systems and the capabilities they will require to prepare for entering the industry, and to consider how they may be impacted during their careers by the emerging Industry 5.0 approaches.

Remotely Operated and Autonomous Vehicle Technologies

This subject focuses on the principles and conventions of measurement in civil engineering projects (i.e. infrastructure construction projects), as well as the measurement of services in both infrastructure and building works. Engineering Measurement

Trains run on tracks within the rail corridor, which is a defined strip of land for the exclusive purpose of the railway business. However, within that corridor there are many items and infrastructure not only to ensure that trains can run effectively, efficiently and economically, but also to allow the passage of cars, pedestrians, passengers, freight, etc within the corridor, over it, under it, and through it. Some examples of that infrastructure include bridges, platforms, electrical substations, overhead wiring, tunnels, buildings of many types, signalling masts and related equipment, etc. Knowledge of issues that can be associated with that infrastructure, as well as need for its maintenance, will help the track engineer to ensure the continued passage of trains, customers and products throughout the rail corridor. This subject, Associated Infrastructure, will introduce you to most of that infrastructure, its types, roles, defects and maintenance. The subject is located early in your course to help you maintain a broad view of the responsibilities of the track engineer beyond being concerned with just the track itself.
