In this subject, you will work on an applied technologies project that will enable you to demonstrate problem-solving and design optimisation skills. Your discipline related project will include developing design options, carrying out a cost-benefit analysis and recommending a solution that is optimised within safety sustainability requirements. You will scope and define your own project. This subject introduces you to the following: - discipline-based skills and knowledge in dynamic practice situations. This will include authentic and purposeful, industry-related experiences - concepts of managing effective relationships and communicating with others - the development and use of adaptive leadership skills and how these skills relate to innovative and entrepreneurial practice - the nature of responsible, accountable, and reflective workplace skills, and creative and critical thinking relevant to para-professional practice. You will exercise self-awareness, initiative, and judgement to manage yourself and professional relationships effectively.

In this subject, you will learn about the procedural nature of cyber security and the tools defined by the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP). You will analyse the effectiveness of threat and vulnerability mitigation through use of contemporary cyber security frameworks. You will be exposed to mitigation strategies, operational controls and countermeasures needed to address various threats and vulnerabilities. Upon completion of this subject you will be able to apply your cyber security knowledge with the relevant tools and techniques to support and make improvements to business operations.In conjunction with the discipline theory, this subject builds on concepts of learning through practice in Year 1 of study by introducing you to more complex learning experiences. You will be introduced to:• discipline-based skills and knowledge in dynamic practice situations. The subject explores the foundations of risk across many industries and disciplines, examining the risk analysis process, contingency planning, business continuity and disaster recovery. By exploring the implications of current incidents in areas such as security, manufacturing, transportation, construction, and primary and secondary industries, students will gain insight into strategic and tactical decision making to avoid harm. You will be introduced to:- discipline-based skills and knowledge in dynamic practice situations. This subject introduces you to the practical approaches taken in penetration testing – simulating aggressors in a cyber security penetration testing environment. The subject will be practical task focused and allow you to explore the penetration testing process from inception to completion with a focus on three key areas: legal and ethical considerations; conducting simulated penetration testing; and reporting findings.This subject builds on concepts of learning through practice in Year 1 of study by introducing you to more complex learning experiences. You will be introduced to discipline-based skills and knowledge in dynamic practice situations. This subject introduces you to the concept of information security and the legal and ethical considerations that organisations and individuals must address to implement sound information security. The subject focusses on industry best practice within the context of securing, storing, and sharing information and will explore the complex nature of information security, contextualising it within the threats that exist within our local and global environments.This subject offers students the foundational knowledge required to function as an information security practitioner across a range of industries and levels, including government and the public sector. This subject also introduces learning through practice by exposing you to authentic learning experiences. These experiences are placed at the centre of learning and assessment, so you have the opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours necessary to respond to industry, community and/or global needs.  You will be introduced to:  1. A range of methods, tools, techniques, and approaches to practice  2. Principles and perspectives such as values, ethics, empathy, and leadership in real world scenarios 3. Reflection and deliberative thinking as a means of developing knowledge, skills, attitudes, and aspirations  4. Ways of understanding problems and developing solutions through active inquiry.

In this subject you will learn about three key areas of data analytics in cyber security. Using a series of tools to develop your cyber security analytical tool kit, you will begin by conducting basic data analysis using Excel and build an analytical dashboard in Excel which will allow you to dynamically update the dashboard based on the dataset entered. With these skills you will then transition to network data analytics for threat hunting and incident response, culminating in an assessment on post-infection threat analysis. Finally, you will undertake active network monitoring and analysis using cutting edge industry tools, that will form your final assessment. The progression of practical skill development in this subject will add progressive complexity to your understanding of data analytics scoped to cyber security and align with a Security Operations Centre (SOC) analyst&#39;s role.

You will gain an appreciation of the issues and elements that underlie the practice of Protective Security and draw upon theoretical concepts, real life case studies and relevant standards. This subject will provide you with the knowledge and skills to translate and communicate theoretical concepts in Protective Security into tangible outputs for industry. This subject, together with crisis management, business continuity management, and the ability to lead resilient organisations, are collectively the underpinning foundation for enhancing organisational resilience. The subject provides you with an understanding and the requisite skills that will be interrelated with these subjects should you proceed further with your postgraduate studies in organisational resilience.

Protective Security

This subject explores the information security issues arising from technology use in the health care environment. Consideration is given to legal and ethical concepts and issues, with an emphasis on the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of health information. Students are provided the opportunity to apply their learning by undertaking a risk analysis and mitigation process related to the core business of a health organisation. Security standards and systems are discussed in context to protecting personal health information, including the limitations of the technology to support this.
