Henos specialises in helping students choose what to study. He takes the time to understand what interests each person and where they hope study could lead, then helps them narrow their options. Having found course choice confusing himself, he knows how valuable clear, supportive guidance can be.

What did you study at university?

I studied a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Finance. Since high school, I’ve always had a strong interest in numbers and the finance sector, which led me to pursue this degree.

What led you to start working for Open Universities Australia?

I’ve always had a desire to help people, and my own experience with university played a big part in my decision to join OUA. When I first started, I found it challenging to choose the right course and navigate my way through university. I wanted to help other students avoid some of those challenges and feel more supported in their own journey.

What’s your favourite part about helping students?

My favourite part is helping students feel less overwhelmed. University can feel like a big and confusing decision, so I enjoy being able to listen to students, understand what they’re looking for and help them feel more confident about their options.

What do you enjoy about helping students choose what to study?

I enjoy helping students turn what can feel like a difficult decision into a clear pathway for their future. Everyone has different interests, goals and circumstances, so I like helping students explore their options and find something that feels right for them. It’s really rewarding knowing that I can help someone take a step towards changing their life through education.
