Mery, OUA student advisor for 3 years

You might be looking at study online to enhance your education, further your career or switch industries altogether, but how do you know which course is right for you?

At Open Universities Australia (OUA), our friendly student advisors  can help you better define your career and education goals so that you can choose the right course to achieve your dreams.

We chat with student advisor Mery about the best part of helping students find their path.

What’s the best part of being a student advisor?

Getting to know students and understanding their personal, study and career goals. Helping them find the right course so that they can step closer to their goals.

What’s the most common question you get asked, and what’s your response?

Students often ask what qualification they would receive from studying through OUA. My answer is that OUA provides students with an online learning platform that enables them to get the same qualifications as those who study on campus. They’ll graduate with the same degree as on-campus students and can even attend the graduation ceremony!

Would you recommend studying online through OUA?

Yes, because we offer pathways for those who don‘t have prior education. A pathway is a series of subjects that, once completed, can help the students enrol in the degree they’ve always wanted to study. We also offer a huge range of subjects with no entry requirements that help students get into degrees, too.

We also offer a flexible study environment so students can work and fulfil other life commitments while being able to study online, anywhere and anytime that suits them.

Since starting at OUA, what have you noticed as the biggest change in education?

More and more universities are now offering online studies, as opposed to traditional on-campus degrees.

This has given people who may not have had the opportunity to study with a university they love the option to do so—without having to travel or move interstate.

If you’d like the flexibility of reaching your goals where and when you want through online study, we’re here to help. Get in touch with a friendly student advisor for a range of helpful advice. Who knows? You might speak with Mery!
