This subject focuses on the administration and policy dimensions of the Australian taxation system. It is designed to introduce students to the way in which the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) administers income tax legislation and associated frameworks, such as the Taxation Administration Act, as well as explore the policy principles underpinning Australia’s tax system. Taxation Administration and Policy

This subject explores the goods and services tax, the fringe benefits tax and other indirect taxes. Learn how salary packaging and pay-roll taxes work. Practice writing up business activity statements and general payment summaries.Table the responsibilities and complications presented by the fringe benefits and goods and service taxes.

In this subject students will examine diverse disputes and conflicts that arise in the taxation context. They will learn resolution methodologies, ranging from objection processes with the Australian Taxation Office to administrative and judicial proceedings in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, Federal Court and the High Court of Australia. Taxation Dispute Resolution

*** There are enrolment restrictions which the Curtin Law School have to approve. Students will need to contact <a href="https://students.connect.curtin.edu.au/app/ask" target="_blank" style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">Curtin Connect</a> requesting permission to enrol in CUR-TAXA6006 Graduate International Taxation Study Tour. ***This is an international study tour and allows students to compare the Australia taxation system with those of other countries. Over approx. 30 days students will visit a number of countries and visit a number of international taxation organisations including government taxation agencies, as well as various professional organisations and world renown taxation bodies such as the OECD, IBFD. The tour also encompasses students visiting universities in the countries that are visited and meeting other students and lecturers to discuss world taxation issues The aim of the study tour is that students will immerse themselves in learning to understand and appreciate the roles of everyone involved in the International Taxation System. Graduate International Taxation Study Tour

Graduate Taxation Study Tour

This subject was previously known as Advanced International Taxation Research.This subject is a research based subject that examines and critiques current issues in international tax at an advanced level.
