Game Design Introduction

The subject provides an introduction to many AI sub-fields, including: expert systems, machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, intelligent agents. Students will be exposed to state-of-the-art examples as well as emerging technologies and get practical experience of solving interesting problems in each of these sub-fields. The subject covers the definition of Artificial Intelligence and its subfields; introduces foundational logic and knowledge representation; and considers social, ethical, and philosophical consequences of the theory and practice of AI. Students will learn different perspectives on the approach to creating AI, its purpose, and its validity. The subject will highlight the increasingly important social and economic roles of AI and will feature guest lectures from research and/or industry experts to highlight current research directions and deepen students&#39; understanding of specific topics.

Artificial Intelligence

This subject will provide you with the basic skills and concepts of Industry 4.0 technologies and their applications across any advanced manufacturing industry, from large-scale industrial operations, small businesses and the emerging sole traders in niche design industries. The subject focuses on practical applications, employing simulation tools to develop skills in electrical circuit analysis and digital control system design. You will explore the complexities of electrical circuits, covering fundamental concepts such as voltage, current, and impedance, and explore advanced topics like operational amplifiers, sensors, and actuators. The digital control systems component introduces the practical applications of digital control systems across industries, encompassing both hardware and software aspects. Through case studies and simulated real-world environments, you will gain insights into real-time measurement, open and closed-loop control, and contemporary technology.

Electrical and Digital Control Systems

In this subject, you will learn about the procedural nature of cyber security. You will analyse the effectiveness of threat and vulnerability mitigation through use of contemporary cyber security frameworks. You will be explore mitigation strategies, operational controls, and countermeasures needed to address various threats and vulnerabilities from both technical and organisational perspectives. Upon completion of this subject, you will be able to apply your cyber security knowledge to communicate, support, and design improvements to business and personal cyber security posture (i.e. cyber security strength and readiness).

Defensive Cyber Security Procedures

This subject introduces you to industry approaches taken in threat intelligence and assessment. The subject will be task-focused and will allow you to explore the threat intelligence process with a focus on three key areas: understanding industry threat landscapes; legal and ethical considerations for penetration testing; and understanding and assessing penetration testing processes within industry contexts.

Cyber Threat Intelligence

In this subject, you will learn the core principles of sensors and sensor networks, investigating how these technologies are generating revolutionary scale change across many industries. You will acquire practical skills via simulation based learning for sensor deployment, sensor technology solutions aligned with industrial objectives, and sensor networks capable of transferring real-time data to external systems. Students will obtain the knowledge and skills needed to fulfil industry standards and solve authentic challenges in sensor network design through case studies and simulation based activities. You will develop self-awareness, initiative, and judgement while developing know how of Industry 4.0 and its potential to enhance decision making with near real time data, and drive efficiencies and innovation in industries at any scale.

Sensors and Sensor Networks

This subject explores the principles and applications of robotics and intelligent systems in a variety of sectors. It provides you with the necessary information and programming abilities to traverse real-world robotics settings. You will receive remote practical experience creating and completing robotics tasks through hands-on remote learning activities. You will work on projects that apply theoretical principles to real implementations. This subject also focuses on effective and inventive problem-solving methodologies, developing your ability to apply programming skills to industry applications. A comprehensive project report will demonstrate your knowledge of robotics foundations, problem-solving talents, and programming expertise.

Programming for Robotics

In this subject, you will be introduced to mathematical and statistical methods for analysing scientific, business or technical data to inform and support decision-making. You will explore why data is needed and how it is used to make decisions, including how data are collected, analysed, interpreted and presented, and you will learn and apply a suite of common statistical and mathematical methods to generate evidence for decision-making.You will also be introduced to data management software and learn how to represent and communicate mathematical and statistical information effectively. Through data sets relevant to your discipline, you will learn how to problem solve, generate evidence, and present solutions using data handling and statistical approaches.

Data Handling and Statistics 2 is the second of three applied statistics subjects offered by the School of Natural Sciences (Mathematics). This subject is designed to extend students&#39; knowledge of statistical data analysis. It builds on the concepts introduced in Data Handling &amp; Statistics 1 and gives a detailed treatment of regression and ANOVA within a general linear modelling framework. Students will become proficient in the use of a contemporary statistical package R, the interpretation of its output and reporting of statistical analyses to statisticians and to the general public. Students will be able to evaluate the appropriateness of experimental designs and statistical methods and suggest changes to designs and analyses.

Data Handling and Statistics 2

This subject extends students&#39; knowledge and experience of programming. It introduces dynamic data structures, foundational collection abstract data types, and computational algorithms and techniques. Programming is undertaken in Python and Java, and topics include: references, memory management, self-referential data structures, abstract data types and their implementation, and an introduction to algorithm complexity.

Programming

An undergraduate student needs to acquire an understanding of the vast and diverse nature of the ICT industry to plan and manage a successful career. Students develop awareness of the skills, attributes, qualities and values required of ICT professionals. Students will explore a gamut of issues that ICT professionals must manage, allowing students to identify and understand current and emerging issues generated by an ever-changing technology. This subject provides a practical and theoretical introduction to what it means to be an ICT professional today: Students will appreciate the roles and responsibilities of ICT professionals in organisations and society, and comprehend relevant work-related behaviours and issues and how professionals should respond; Students will gain an understanding and appreciation of the ethical conduct pertinent to an ICT professional from a range of perspectives, professionalism and codes of conduct; Students will understand the Australian and international legislative and regulatory obligations and standards as they relate to ICT environments in organisations and appreciate their impact on the work of the ICT professional; Students will develop an understanding of the entrepreneurial process and its application beyond the inception of new ideas and an appreciation of entrepreneurial opportunities in ICT. Students will appreciate the importance of information privacy and the value of ICT security and comprehend the impact of computer crime and criminals; Students will begin to develop communication and team work skills required of an ICT professional; Students will develop an awareness of what it means to undertake a user-centered approach to ICT and the importance of considering the human factors involved with ICT.
