This is a program for students who are new to their chosen major area of study. This subject explores representation in writing and how the dynamic relationship between Self and Other plays a central role in the writing process. The representation of the self and of others is central to a broad range of written genres and forms. Narratives underpin a range of cultural artefacts. This subject explores key elements of narrative construction such as story and narration; tIme and space; narrating perspective and voice. An advanced subject which examines the techniques and problems involved in writing long fiction - specifically the long story, the novella and the novel.
