This degree offers a choice of studying two single majors together and introduces students to the complementary fields of fine art and Digital and Social Media. The Fine Art major draws upon the diverse and complex traditions of Fine Art and calls for a high degree of self-discipline, a capacity for self-criticism and dedication to the demanding profession of being an artist. This degree aims to produce highly accomplished and knowledgeable graduates able to contribute to the artistic, aesthetic and social needs of contemporary society. Students develop their knowledge and skills in effective spoken, written and graphic communication in a tertiary context. Foundations of Communication

You will also have opportunities to analyse your personal communication style to better understand how this affects professional communication with both clients and colleagues.

Communication for Health Professionals

If businesses are to survive in an increasingly competitive and information-oriented environment they will need trained managers who can speak, write and interact with others efficiently, effectively and professionally.This subject will define the importance and role of effective communication in a manager&#39;s position and their role in a &#39;learning&#39; organisation. While taking COM211 you will begin to evaluate the structure of an organisation, the role of communication networks and the value and use of communities of practice. You will discuss how to communicate effectively in an increasingly diverse business landscape, evaluate change management strategies, practise communicating and managing change, and managing conflict in the business environment.

The Internet has dramatically changed the way people and organisations communicate, whether for better or worse. Students will reflect on their own cultural background, and consider how this impacts on communication with diverse cultures including Indigenous Peoples. By applying knowledge about global and Indigenous cultures, and ways of working that are respectful, students will develop capability to communicate responsibly and in ways that are aligned with varied audiences. Responsible business practices will be explored, with students examining Indigenous perspectives in global business and how these perspectives should inform business communication and decision making.
