This degree is the prerequisite for entry into the Master of Architecture. The degree covers the design of buildings, the technical aspects of building construction, and how architecture relates to societies, cultures and people and the way they live. Architectural ideas are communicated through written and spoken reports, photographs, drawings, models and the electronic media. Students not intending to continue on to the Master may use the knowledge gained in this degree to seek employment within the architectural profession or building industry.Software Requirements — Students will require access to the following software: Photoshop, AutoCAD and Rhino. Details on accessing AutoCAD and Rhino will be provided in due degree at the commencement of relevant subjects (please note this software is free for student use). Bachelor of Applied Science (Architectural Science)

This degree was previously known as Bachelor of Arts (Interior Architecture).
Interior designers, as qualified professionals in Interior Architecture, design quality environments for a diverse range of users and functions. They coordinate the design and construction of building interiors including commercial, workplace, hospitality, medical, gallery, and retail environments. In addition, interior designers may be involved with more transient environments and the associated displays for trade fairs, exhibitions, museums, and public events. Their skills and knowledge are also utilised for adaptive reuse of existing buildings and conservation of significant sites. Interior designers require skills and understanding in all aspects of design, including technical knowledge of interior construction, equipment and building systems. They must also exercise ability in communication and administrative skills. The degree also provides a sound basis for more specialised careers and study in areas such as furniture or set design, education and/or research.
This degree is highly respected in the interior design industry, both nationally and internationally, and has alliances with a number of national and international universities which encourage student exchanges and national and international field trips. Students are encouraged to compete in national and international competitions, in which Curtin students always do very well.
In order to complete this degree, students are also required to complete at least 80 hours&#39; work experience in the industry before graduation.

Study the interior design and construction of diverse spaces, plus the re-use of buildings. You’ll explore lighting, ventilation, acoustics and furniture in theory and in practice. Graduates are professionally recognised by key design institutions.

This subject was previously known as Architectural Design and Technical Integration Methods.
This subject focuses on application of advanced visual, oral and written techniques required to communicate design ideation and resolved architectural proposition and body of architectural work. The work conducted in this subject supplements the work concurrently being developed in other subjects.
Work Integrated Learning is incorporated developing practice standard presentation and communication skills, culminating in a professional portfolio.
This subject has BAS300 Architecture Design 5 and BAS305 Architecture Methods 5 as mandatory prerequisites. If you have completed BAS300 prior to 2015, you are not required to enrol into BAS305 as BAS300 was previously counted as double subject. Please get a prerequisite waiver from Curtin to proceed with enrolment in BAS335.

Architecture Methods 6

This subject was previously known as Architecture Design 2.This subject explores the sense of place and the notion of inhabitation. It explores the built environment as a representation of collective values, investigates the relationship between ideas, human body and built form, and develops an understanding of primary components of space, form, structure and materials. It refers to and uses communication methods taught concurrently in other subjects. This subject requires students to create new structures for inhabitation at a personal scale that engage well with a given landscape, including solar, wind and sound. The emphasis is on the importance of the visualisation of concepts for a sketch design and design development. This subject was previously known as Environmental and Technological Systems in Architecture.This subject explores the complexities of effective system integration within the built environment. Acoustic, lighting, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems are given particular focus and these are investigated through researching and analysing case studies, and observations of construction and detailing in a local context. Students will begin to interrogate the role of a designer as part of a network of professional consultants. Net zero considerations form part of this unit. This subject was previously known as Architecture Methods 4.This subject introduces students to concepts and techniques relating to the 3D software and architectural representation. The subject has a specific emphasis on digital modelling, representing and fabricating architectural design. Students will be introduced to key software techniques that relate to these concepts and that are relevant to architectural representation and presentation.
