To freedom of lifestyle, Brett says ‘yes’

The beauty of online study is that it frees up time for your passions. Brett spent his free time campaigning for marriage equality.

Last Wednesday was a momentous day in the history books, as Australia voted yes for marriage equality. Amongst those giddy with joy was Brett, who has been an active and passionate member of the ‘yes’ campaign. He’s able to make time for the things he cares about, because the degree he’s studying through OUA fits around his lifestyle – not the other way around.

At just 25 years of age, Brett has an impressive collection of degrees, including a Bachelor of Business from Swinburne, and a Masters of Business Administration from RMIT, both completed through OUA. He’s back at it again, currently studying a Master of Professional Accounting (CPA Extension) from RMIT – that’s a lot of feathers in Brett’s academic cap! Brett hopes to one day become a Management Accounting Consultant, helping businesses in the public sector become more efficient through strong accounting practices.

Through OUA, Brett was able to study electives from multiple universities. Getting his head around different teaching approaches, he believes, has broadened his mind and ability to adapt. While Brett is an extremely hard worker, he’s just like the rest of us, and admits to procrastinating – or as Brett calls it, ‘procrasti-baking’. “When I have a deadline come up, I’ll usually cook up a storm” Brett smiles, “My housemates will know that I’ve got an assignment due, because there will be a feast on.”

The reason Brett has returned to OUA time and time again is because of the great flexibility, not just in regards to scheduling, but also in the style of learning. He feels that he learns best in his own time, on his own terms – as do many of OUA’s students. If you feel that you too would thrive online, there’s no better way to find out than to jump in and give it a go.

Don’t choose between study and your passions

Through OUA you can study online, at your own pace, from wherever you are – which means you you can work around the things that are important to you. With everything you need, provided in your university’s online Learning Management System (LMS), you’ll experience uni just like an on-campus student, except you’ll have more flexibility to personalise your studies. While you’ll be studying in your own time and space, you’ll never be studying alone – OUA has a passionate community of online students, and a team of experts who can help find the right study option for you, and help manage your studies from start to finish.
