About this subject
On successful completion of the subject you should be able to:
- Apply the concepts of quality, safety and risk management in health care
- Explain the impact of systems and human interactions on the likelihood of errors and adverse events
- Use reflective learning to identify and manage clinical risk, investigate errors, and utilise data to improve patient safety
- Apply current evidence to examine the opportunities for consumers to contribute to safety and quality in healthcare
- Demonstrate the application of methods and tools that can be used to measure and improve quality of care in evidence-based practice

This subject is designed to foster knowledge and understanding of concepts, principles and practices of continuous improvement in a range of healthcare settings. Participants will develop an understanding of creative, effective and practical approaches to implementing quality and safety practices in the workplace. As well, evidence–based leadership and change management strategies in the workplace will be explored.

These assessments allow students to demonstrate knowledge and understanding, analysis and evaluation skills and application of theoretical concepts to practice. Additionally, these assessments allow students to further develop academic and professional communication skills. Detailed feedback is provided on all assessments in addition to the marking rubrics to facilitate student learning and achievement of unit learning outcomes.
