The Master of Marketing is offered by Monash University. This leading course is offered via multimedia delivery and provides a solid foundation for a career in the marketing profession.
Students enrolled in the Master of Marketing or Pathway Program in Business may study towards different levels of qualification, depending how many units are successfully completed. Students who complete the Pathway Program with a credit average may work towards the Master of Marketing. Students enrolled in the Master of Marketing may exit with the Graduate Diploma in Business after completing all six core units and two electives.
This course aims to enable students to:
- Understand marketing concepts, corporate objectives, strategies and practical implementation
- Understand concepts in psychology and sociology relevant to consumer behaviour
- Understand the nature and scope of marketing research and methodology
- Develop knowledge and skills to plan, strategise, implement and evaluate marketing programs that target the internal and external constituencies of businesses and organisations
- Understand and appreciate the cross-cultural issues which impact on the marketing activities of organisations operating in an international environment.
The Master of Marketing has three entrance pathways; direct entry or via the Executive Certificate in Business (Not offered in 2013), or the Pathway Program.
Direct entry - Academic + work experience
Applicants require an undergraduate degree in a discipline other than Marketing from a recognised tertiary institution and a minimum of two years relevant full-time business experience.
Applicants must have a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 60% or equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA). For further information please contact the Department of Marketing, Monash University.
Alternative entry: Pathway Program - Work experience
Applicants with no academic qualifications but six years relevant full-time business experience are eligible to enter the course. These students should begin with the four unit pathway program. On successful completion with a Credit average, students are eligible to apply for entry to the Master of Marketing.
As of 2013 there will be no further intake into the Executive Certificate in Business through OUA. Instead a four unit pathway program will be available for students to use in place of the Executive Certificate in Business as a pathway to the Master in Marketing program. There will only be one intake into the pathway program in session 1, 2013.
