Description
This unit is focused upon the study of management in an international context. It examines and compares management practices of different types of organisations, across countries and cultures. The study of comparative management requires a basic understanding of organisational behaviour in a highly competitive global marketplace. The unit considers management functions and manager skills including similarities and differences between domestic and international management.
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for this unit.
Note: Level 2 units normally assume an introductory level of prior knowledge in this area, e.g. from studying related Level 1 units or other relevant experience.

Learning Outcomes
At the completion of this unit students will be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge of management concepts and models
- demonstrate an understanding of management issues in a global context
- identify relevant information and evaluate it from different managerial and cultural perspectives
- compare strengths and weaknesses of different international management practices
- understand how to work effectively across cultures and with diverse groups.
