Club Manager

Club Managers handle all of the operations involved with running clubs that are licensed to serve food, alcoholic and virgin beverages as well as those that offer gambling, sporting events and other types of entertainment. They must understand the laws and regulations under which they must operate and see to it that they are strictly adhered to. This is a busy, demanding and often stressful position.

Duties and tasks

  • Arrange for maintenance services at the facility
  • Arrange for the presence of security
  • Assess and review memberships and applications
  • Create and distribute information regarding upcoming events
  • Ensure all health codes are adhered to
  • Ensure license stays up to date and intact
  • Ensure that the facility is safe for customers
  • Hire and train staff
  • Observe and comply with all laws and regulations for operating the business
  • Plan and supervise all functions at the establishment
  • Plan, book and oversee activities and events
  • Work with community groups that are sponsored by the club

Working conditions

Club Managers work in comfortable surroundings that are always climate controlled. The facilities are generally inviting, but the job is truly demanding. During an event, the facility can become chaotic so the Club Manager must be able to handle loads of stress without becoming overwhelmed and lose his decorum.
