Glass Maker

Glass Makers use machinery and hand tools to fabricate, finish, and polish glass. The work may also involve mixing and processing other substances to assist in the glass-making process.

Duties and tasks

  • Finishing and smoothing glass edges
  • Monitoring and adjusting the temperature of newly molten glass
  • Operating glass-making machinery and hand tools
  • Setting up and working with glass moulds and casters
  • Using moulds to form glass into specific shapes for commercial products

Working conditions

Glass Makers often work in factory or workshop conditions. Rooms can get hot and dirty, but should be kept well-ventilated and brightly lit.
