Airconditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic

Airconditioning and Refrigeration Mechanics are involved in all aspects of installing, fitting, diagnosing and repairing domestic (households) and commercial (businesses) airconditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment.

Duties and tasks

  • Conduct assessments on air conditioning machinery / refrigeration systems
  • Diagnose malfunctions, faults and breakdowns of the machinery and perform necessary repairs
  • Fit new systems and remove old systems and faulty equipment
  • Follow detailed installation instructions and manuals
  • Perform air condition and refrigerator maintenance and repairs Provide quotes and estimates for installations
  • Work alongside other trades people including electricians, pipe fitters and carpenters

Working conditions

A Mechanics work location is dependent on the job. This can include indoor and outdoor locations, household premises, businesses, factories, restaurants etc. Typically mechanics will work Monday to Friday, however may be required to work after hours to perform emergency repairs.
