Insurance Agent

Insurance Agents sell a variety of insurances to customers on behalf of insurance companies. They must have strong customer service and analytical skills to identify the most important concerns for customers.

Duties and tasks

  • Compute premiums and determine payment types for customers
  • Document all customer insurance policies, payments and claims
  • Evaluate clients circumstances and activities to determine the type and level of insurance coverage they need
  • Provide information and feedback to customers about different insurance package options, conditions and risk coverage of insurance plans, premiums and benefits
  • Update customers on changing rates or policies of insurance and stay informed on new developments in the insurance field
  • Use a variety of criteria to find potential customers and contact them to recommend insurances
  • Work with customer and company to process insurance claims in the best interest of both parties

Working conditions

Insurance Agents typically work Mondays to Fridays, but may be required to work evenings in order to meet quotas or deadlines. They typically work in office settings, processing sales and claims and reaching out to potential customers.Professional associations / Industry information
