What does a social researcher do?

Social professionals are historical research professionals whose work primarily focuses on the study of human behaviour as well as social institutions and society as a whole. Additional responsibilities include translating text from one language to another.

Duties and tasks

  • Accurate translation of source texts in an effort to maintain original meaning.
  • Authenticating historical data for inclusion in studies.
  • Collect historical data from a variety of sources including archives, newspaper archives, historical indexes, court records and more.
  • Performing historical research of a culturally focused nature.
  • Taking historical data and interpreting it.
  • Transcribing verbal recordings from one language to another while keeping the essence of meaning.
  • Working with original or source texts.
