Housekeepers are employed by businesses, commercial enterprises, governmental agencies, and private individuals. They are required to clean and maintain the facility to which they have been assigned.

Duties and tasks

  • Cleaning curtains and other window treatments, as well as the windows themselves
  • Cooking meals and going grocery shopping may be required at times
  • Doing laundry
  • Dusting and polishing hard surfaces
  • Stripping and remaking beds
  • Sweeping, mopping, and polishing floors; vacuuming and shampooing carpets
  • Washing and drying dishes and other kitchen maintenance work
