Farmers (Livestock)

Farmers breed and raise animals and oversee day-to-day farm operations, as well as the seasonal and annual responsibilities of farming. Working conditions

Farmers can work both outdoors as well as in an office setting ? they may also travel to various locations to make purchases and sales. Seasons determine a farmers work week: during breeding, purchasing and harvest time, they may work long hours. During the rest of the year they plan, market, and maintain facilities and equipment. Because farmers work with heavy machinery and may handle large animals that can kick or bite, they must follow safety standards to reduce the risk of injury and illness.
