Office Manager
Office Managers supervise and assign the responsibilities of administrative support personnel. Office Managers hire, train and promote clerical and administrative support staff.
Duties and tasks
- Develops work schedules for administrative support personnel
- Evaluates staffs job performance and makes appropriate recommendations
- Hires, trains, monitors and promotes office support staff
- Implements policies and standards
- Manages records, budgets and calendar for the office
- Supervises office employees to ensure that proper procedures, standards and deadlines are being met
Skills required
- Ability to communicate well
- Experience with hiring and evaluating support staff
- Good decision skills
- Strong managerial skills
- Understanding of the occupational health and safety regulations
Working conditions
Office Managers generally work 40 hours a week. Although there is a lot of computer and deskwork involved, a good portion of the time is spent supervising staff and managing the physical facility.
