About this subject

  • Upon successful completion of this subject, the students should be able to:

    1. Identify the types of turnouts, and their main components, which are commonly used in a suburban network
    2. List the applications, advantages and disadvantages of those types of turnouts
    3. Diagnose defects in those commonly used turnouts using applicable rail standards
    4. Explain why some characteristics of turnouts are stipulated in asset owner policies
