About this subject

  • Upon completion of this subject, the student should be able to:

    1. Describe the diversity of races, ethnicities, religions, genders, sexualities and abilities in Australia.
    2. Identify how race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality and ability impacts on individuals’ health beliefs, health behaviours, and use of health care services
    3. Reflect upon how your attitudes, values and beliefs about diversity may influence individual health care practices and health outcomes
    4. Apply understanding of cultural safety theories to practices that lead to sensitive delivery of care to diverse populations
    5. Discuss how health care providers can advocate for better health outcomes for diverse populations
