About this subject

  • Upon completion of this subject, the student should be able to:

    1. Explain the functions of ports and range of port operations (in relation to both infrastructure and services) and their implications for the role of port management
    2. Explain how port administrative and management structures have evolved and the implications for the role of port authorities
    3. Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of port operations and management from the aspect of logistics and supply chain management
    4. Apply business and management principles and skills in the context of port operations, planning and management
    5. Examine major challenges facing ports and generate strategies for managing them
