  • Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to:

    1. Describe the theory and rationale for the use of different types of protected areas.
    2. Critique processes of protected area planning and administration.
    3. Develop objectives critical for the establishment, management and evaluation of a protected area.
    4. Design appropriate strategies for balancing conservation and ecological sustainable development.
    5. Evaluate the efficacy of protected areas.
