Fermentation Principles and Processes

About this subject

  • Upon completion of this subject, the student should be able to:

    1. Explain key processes involved in realising the manufacture of a fermentation product for commercial purposes.
    2. Analyse outcomes of variations in fermentation process parameters.
    3. Evaluate key fermentation techniques and processes in a workplace or work-integrated learning experience.
    4. Reflect on the application of fermentation techniques and transferable skills in work-relevant settings.

  • Attendance requirements - Field trips: up to 1 day per semester;
  • Placement requirements - Work placement or work integrated-learning experience up to 3 days per semester
  • Other requirements - Lectures online; Tutorials 1-2 hours per week; Work placement or industry related project 3-5 days.
