About this subject

  • Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to:

    1. Compare and contrast sustainability concepts from a range of perspectives and examine the relevance of ‘accounting’ to sustainability.
    2. Analyse the relationship between organisational responsibilities, accountabilities, and accounting.
    3. Evaluate the various ways in which social and environmental considerations can be embedded within an organisation.
    4. Evaluate the various frameworks for reporting information about an organisation’s social and environmental performance, and the tools that can be used to analyse publicly available sustainability reports.
    5. Demonstrate the qualities of a critical thinker and reflective practitioner, particularly in relation to the relevance of material to different places including the Tasmanian context.
