About this subject
Upon completion of this subject, the student should be able to:
- Demonstrate how to ask and answer clinical questions using effective search terms and organisational skills.
- Develop skills to understand the hierarchy of evidence in the literature.
- Apply an evidence-based approach to evaluate medication-related problems and formulate a pharmaceutical care plan.

CSA721 is a self-directed, fully online subject, that explores a variety of disease states and their management, using a series of patient cases linked to assignment-based questions. This enables students to understand the concepts of the evidence-based medicine approach and the process of application of theory into practice. This subject covers the basics of evidence-based medicine, medication management and clinical pharmacy issues in gastroenterology, anaemia, aged care, the interpretation of clinical, biochemical data derived from laboratory testing; adverse drug reactions and drug interactions.
