About this subject

  • At the completion of this subject students will be able to: 

    1. identify objectives and principles of road geometric design and how to address them through proper selection of design inputs
    2. summarise relationships between horizontal and vertical alignment geometry and driver safety and comfort
    3. apply current guidelines in the design of road geometric elements using relevant software
    4. demonstrate an understanding of functional classification of roadway systems and produce traffic impact assessment reports
    5. demonstrate the importance of Traffic Management Measures including "Intelligent Transport Systems".

To enrol in this subject, you must be admitted into a degree.

Additional requirements

  • Equipment requirements - Audio headset with microphone are required to access weekly consultation and help desk facilities.
  • Software requirements - Students will require administrator access to a Windows Operating System so as to install and run specialist software. Students will also require access to two pieces of software : SimProcess and Civil 3D. UniSA will provide more detailed information on this requirement in due course before the unit commences.
