About this subject
1. Evaluate the practice of critical reflection and reflexivity as a means of obtaining meaningful personal and professional insights to respond to patient needs;
2. Analyse the theoretical underpinnings of critical reflection and reflexivity and apply these to personal and professional reflective contexts;
3. Distinguish and effectively manage barriers and enablers for effective therapeutic and professional actions.

Learning from clinical experiences, rather than from formal teaching, is possibly the most important source of personal development and improvement for health professionals. Students in this course will develop skills in critical reflection and reflexivity as it encourages them to consider alternative approaches to their practice. Students will be encouraged to examine strategies underpinned by theory to address personal or professional matters and to strive to achieve positive outcomes for both themselves and quality patient care.
