About this subject

  • On completion of this course students should be able to achieve the following learning outcomes:

    1. Develop an awareness of the significance and nature of effective verbal and non-verbal communication.
    2. Apply communication techniques appropriate to clinical assessment and intervention.
    3. Practice a range of communication skills for dealing with distressed individuals and their family and carers.
    4. Describe resources and strategies in managing challenging situations and physical and mental health crises with a range of diverse people groups.
    5. Maximise communication strategies using different modes such as face to face and virtual methods of communication.
    6. Develops strategies to improve own interpersonal skills by self-reflection and analysis.
