Selected School Science Topic
About this subject
Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to:
- develop knowledge and skills of school science topics;
- demonstrate an understanding of science processing skills;
- apply technologies to complete a range of activities; and
- communicate scientific information and skills to others.
- Topics will be available to enrolled students in the subjects Learning Management System site approximately one week prior to the commencement of the teaching period.
This subject introduces students to selected scientific topics that are typically covered in primary and middle school programs. The subject covers ideas from the physical, biological, chemical and Earth and Space sciences as they relate to the following topics: Energy, Electricity, Movement and Forces, Materials and their properties, Chemical Reactions, Earth and Space, Weather and Environment and Living things and their properties. It also aims at developing students' knowledge of the nature of science, and scientific processes such as using scientific inquiry methods, and communicating scientific findings. No specific science content knowledge background will be assumed.
Assessment 1: 2250 words. Assessment Notes: Written task. Relates to Learning Outcomes 1, 2, 4

Assessment 3: 500 words (equivalent). Assessment Notes: Quizzes x 2 (5% each). Relates to Learning Outcomes 1, 2, 4- Assessment 1 (45%)
