About this subject
Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to:
- demonstrate further lower intermediate level listening and speaking skills in Japanese (comprehension, pronunciation, intonation and fluency) on topics relating to part-time job, politeness, shopping, expressing disatisfaction, education;
- demonstrate lower intermediate skills in reading and writing Japanese (consolidating previously studied approximately 280-300 kanji, learning an additional approximately 120-130 new kanji) on further topics relating to part-time job, politeness, shopping, expressing disatisfaction, education; and
- apply further knowledge of fundamental aspects of Japanese socio-linguistics and socio-culture relevant to inter-cultural communication at a lower intermediate level.
- Topics will be available to enrolled students in the subjects Learning Management System site approximately one week prior to the commencement of the teaching period.
Continuing on from the first trimester intermediate Japanese language subject UNE-ITAL201, this subject aims to develop intermediate-level communicative competence in Japanese through the following four categories of knowledge/skills: (1) intermediate listening and speaking skills in Japanese; (2) intermediate skills in reading and writing Japanese (consolidating previously studied approximately 280-300 kanji, learning an additional approximately 120-130 new kanji); (3) aspects of Japanese society and culture relevant to inter-cultural communication at intermediate level and; (4) language learning strategies.

There is a supervised exam at the end of the teaching period in which you are enrolled. The exam will be offered online with supervision via webcam and screen sharing technology. Coordinated by UNE Exams Unit.
