About this subject
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- describe principles of effective community services case work in the context of the individual case worker and client;
- describe principles of effective case work in a service organisation context;
- define cultural diversity and cultural awareness as these apply to case workers and their clients;
- discuss case work practice and professional relationships in a context of cultural diversity and awareness; and
- assess a range of client issues and appropriate referral protocols characteristically encountered as a community services case worker.
- Topics will be available to enrolled students in the subjects Learning Management System site approximately one week prior to the commencement of the teaching period.
This unit introduces students to theoretical foundations of case work as a key component of community services delivery. Individual, community and statutory considerations are applied to identification and assessment of needs, and delivery of appropriate services. Frameworks for evaluating optimal service delivery, including appropriate referral to alternative providers or organisations, are introduced as a key foundation of service delivery.
