About this subject
Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to:
- demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills by applying a design cycle to analyse learning needs and plan an elearning strategy;
- evaluate a learning context and analyse learner needs that may be met through the use of elearning tools;
- use autonomy and independent judgement to design learning and teaching strategies that use elearning tools, based on relevant theories, concepts and methods; and
- critically discuss the impact of issues that arise when implementing strategies that use elearning tools.

This subject provides an introduction to the field of elearning. It explores the key concepts of elearning tools and elearning strategies, and the issues surrounding implementation of elearning in teaching and learning settings. Students analyse learning contexts, and explore the complex relation between learners, elearning tools, elearning pedagogies and the learning context. Using a real life setting, students identify learner needs and determine appropriate elearning solutions to meet these needs in the learning context. The design cycle is introduced for designing and implementing elearning solutions.
