About this subject

  • Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to:

    1. demonstrate application of key concepts relating to communication in health and social care;
    2. identify the goals and strategies for communication in health and social care;
    3. describe the key components of and skills required for effective communication (verbal, non-verbal and written) in health and social care contexts;
    4. understand the importance of communicating in ethnically and culturally-appropriate ways; and
    5. reflect upon their own personal communication style and how it affects professional communication with both clients and colleagues.
