About this subject

  • Students who successfully complete this subject will be able to:

    1. Identify theoretical and practical issues associated with measurement, scale development and evaluation
    2. Demonstrate an advanced understanding of the concepts of reliability and validity and their underlying theories
    3. Conduct traditional and advanced statistical techniques to evaluate the reliability and validity of a scale
    4. Conduct a Rasch analysis using specialised software
    5. Critically evaluate published research relevant to scale development, psychometric testing and item response theory
    6. Demonstrate verbal and written skills in relation to critically evaluating empirical findings associated with the development and psychometric properties of a scale.
