About this subject
Students who successfully complete this subject will be able to:
- Analyse and articulate the role of Enterprise Systems in organisations from a global, social and economic perspective
- Develop a coherent understanding of the application of enterprise systems to the supply-chain
- Apply technical and theoretical knowledge regarding the operation of enterprise systems to the management of enterprise information
- Communicate effectively as a professional and function as an effective leader or member of a diverse team.
- The strategic and economic context in which modern organisations and their systems operate
- Data security, privacy and regulations and data sovereignty
- Supply chains, value chains and associated organisational and societal issues (including ethics)
- The integration of individual organisations into supply chains and supply chain systems
- The role of e-commerce, the Cloud, and associated strategic and managerial imperatives
- The needs of modern organisations and the markets they serve
- Supporting organisation and social needs with enterprise systems and systems theories
- The role of information technology in supporting enterprise systems, processes and operations
- Enterprise architecture
- Enterprise Software for supporting organisations
- Global standards and practices, both trade and technical
- Designing software for scalable, reliable, accessible enterprise systems
The aim of this subject is to introduce students to enterprise systems management. The subject provides an overview of the global, social and economic imperatives for enterprise information management and addresses the strategic and managerial issues faced by contemporary organisations as they manage the virtual value chain. Topics covered include enterprise systems infrastructure, data integration and operations management, extended supply chain management and the design and development of enterprise systems solutions for modern medium to large organisations.

Single subjects are the individual components that make up a degree. With Open Universities Australia, you’re able to study many of them as stand-alone subjects, including postgraduate single subjects, without having to commit to a degree.
Each of your subjects will be held over the course of a study term, and they’ll usually require 10 to 12 hours of study each week. Subjects are identified by a title and a code, for example, Developmental Psychology, PSY20007.

If that degree allows entry via undergraduate subjects, there will be information about this under the Entry Requirements section. You will find a list of 2-4 open enrolment subjects you need to successfully complete to qualify for admission into that qualification.
Once you pass those subjects, you will satisfy the academic requirements for the degree, and you can apply for entry.
