About this subject
Students who successfully complete this subject will be able to:
- Define and integrate theoretical principles applicable to entrepreneurship and innovation and apply these to problems and opportunities that might arise in the business and/or social context
- Systematically review and critically evaluate research from a range of sources in order to make informed judgements on options for using entrepreneurship and innovation in business contexts
- Build on and continuously develop the intellectual independence to be critical and reflective learners, who are cognisant of the relevance of entrepreneurship and innovation to their business discipline
- Work collaboratively in diverse groups.
- The interface between entrepreneurship and innovation
- Contemporary entrepreneurship issues, such as lean start-up, design thinking for entrepreneurship, firm growth, the entrepreneurship process
- Contemporary innovation issues, such as innovation management, the innovation management process, open innovation
- The selected contemporary issues will be integrated in a learning and teaching nexus specific to business majors
This subject focuses on contemporary theoretical and practice based issues in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which will be integrated with business and management theories, models and frameworks. On completion of the subject students will be able to identify, analyse, evaluate and offer value creating solutions to local and global business and social problems from entrepreneurship and innovation perspectives.

- This is in the range of 10 to 12 hours of study each week.

Single subject FAQs
Single subjects are the individual components that make up a degree. With Open Universities Australia, you’re able to study many of them as stand-alone subjects, including postgraduate single subjects, without having to commit to a degree.
Each of your subjects will be held over the course of a study term, and they’ll usually require 10 to 12 hours of study each week. Subjects are identified by a title and a code, for example, Developmental Psychology, PSY20007.
