About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- Initiate and pursue projects that encourage creative development and that stimulate innovation and refinement of personal work
- Have a sound understanding of methods of production related to drawing
- Produce a succinct body of resolved drawings that demonstrate a competency in specific aesthetics of drawing.

Explore three sources of visual imaging in nature, culture and imagination. You will be encouraged to develop your capacity to generate ideas, develop them thematically and in depth and consider them within an historical context. The subject clarifies techniques used to represent three-dimensional forms on a two-dimensional surface and includes studies in the principal elements and conventions of line, tone, contrast, form, space, composition, proportion, perspective, scale and gesture. Aspects of landscape, still life and the figure are addressed and the study will include a survey of materials and methods of production as well as touching on aspects of conservation of drawings.

Single subjects are the individual components that make up a degree. With Open Universities Australia, you’re able to study many of them as stand-alone subjects, including postgraduate single subjects, without having to commit to a degree.
Each of your subjects will be held over the course of a study term, and they’ll usually require 10 to 12 hours of study each week. Subjects are identified by a title and a code, for example, Developmental Psychology, PSY20007.
First, find the degree that you would like to study on our website.
If that degree allows entry via undergraduate subjects, there will be information about this under the Entry Requirements section. You will find a list of 2-4 open enrolment subjects you need to successfully complete to qualify for admission into that qualification.
Once you pass those subjects, you will satisfy the academic requirements for the degree, and you can apply for entry.
