About this subject

  • Topics covered in the subject include strategic thinking, strategic analysis, strategy formation, strategic change, innovation, industry context, international context and organisational purpose. In class discussion the lecturer will encourage students to discuss the formulation and implementation of strategy in international business practice.
    At the completion of this subject, you will be able to:

    1. appreciate impacts of globalisation and international issues on an organisation
    2. gather and analyse data relevant to a strategic problem
    3. demonstrate the ability to think critically and creatively from an analytical base in a strategic context
    4. incorporate current business conditions and perspectives into a strategic plan
    5. prepare a strategic business plan
    6. display an awareness of the importance of effective management of resources
    7. provide appropriate leadership in operational matters related to an organisation’s strategy formation and implementation
    8. take relevant ethical considerations into account in achieving these outcomes
    9. effectively communicate the above outcomes in a strategic plan.
