About this subject

  • On successful completion of this unit, students should be able to:

    1. Demonstrate a critical understanding of the role of military force in International Society.
    2. Analyse the changing nature of war and application of military force.
    3. Evaluate the role of military force in various theatres, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Somalia.
    4. Evaluate the role of the military in nation-building and development.
    5. Critically analyse the role of information & intelligence in countering terrorist threats.
    6. Explore the ethical dilemmas, which surround the application of deadly force when it comes to countering terrorism or in an insurgency based conflict.
    7. Communicate clearly and coherently both orally and in writing.
