About this subject

  • At the completion of this subject students will be able to:

    1. perform basic algebra including rational expressions and exponents
    2. work with systems of linear equations and matrices
    3. work with inequalities, absolute value
    4. use and graph functions in Cartesian plane
    5. work with trigonometric functions and radians
    6. calculate simple limits and finite and infinite points
    7. calculate derivatives of powers, exponential and logarithmic functions
    8. use product, quotient and chain rules
    9. solve simple optimisation problems involving differentiation.

Mathematics up to year 10 in Australian high schools provides sufficient background. UniSA's subject, ENR102 Essential Mathematics 2: Calculus, is considered as an equivalent of this subject.
