About this subject
On successful completion of this subject, you should be able to:
- identify and differentiate between your career aspirations and goals
- apply your understanding of career planning and management
- demonstrate the relevance of digital identity and networking in the context of your future career
- develop and mobilise a career plan.

This subject assists students to clarify their career aspirations and goals and supports them in planning the development of skills they will need for future career success. Students will complete a series of four online modules. Through the subject, students will undertake self-assessment activities, create a future career development plan and learn to use tools which will help them to showcase their capabilities through an online Career Learning e-Portfolio.

WEB ASSESSMENT: Students will be required to: a. Audit their digital identity. b. Collect artefacts via screen capture and produce written description/discussion of their digital identity. c. Write a summary profile of what they can do to enhance and develop a professional digital identity. (20%)
PAPER: Students will be required to: a. Critically reflect on how they can begin to develop a professional network. b. Map out their existing network and identify where and how they can take the next steps in expanding their network. (20%)
REFLECTIVE TASK: Students will be required to: a. Write a number of small responses of critical reflection that are discrete in themselves b. ‘Stitch’ these small responses together into a reflective commentary. (25%)
FINAL PLAN: Students will be required to: a. Create a career plan that maps out career goals and aspirations for the next 2-3 years; and identify what progressive steps can be taken to put the plan into action and begin developing their career path b. Incorporate within the plan analysis of the career panel/s they attended by reflecting on discussion and considering how it contributes to understanding ways to think about planning for their future career. (35%)

Single subject FAQs
Single subjects are the individual components that make up a degree. With Open Universities Australia, you’re able to study many of them as stand-alone subjects, including postgraduate single subjects, without having to commit to a degree.
Each of your subjects will be held over the course of a study term, and they’ll usually require 10 to 12 hours of study each week. Subjects are identified by a title and a code, for example, Developmental Psychology, PSY20007.
First, find the degree that you would like to study on our website.
If that degree allows entry via undergraduate subjects, there will be information about this under the Entry Requirements section. You will find a list of 2-4 open enrolment subjects you need to successfully complete to qualify for admission into that qualification.
Once you pass those subjects, you will satisfy the academic requirements for the degree, and you can apply for entry.
