• What you'll learn

  At the completion of this subject students will obtain:

  1. a solid understanding of the ambit of sociology and its various methodologies
  2. an understanding of the complex nature of contemporary society and the issues surrounding various classifications such as traditional, modern and postmodern, as well as more specific approaches such as work-society, individualised society, risk society
  3. a consolidation of knowledge acquired in previous studies in Sociology
  4. an acquisition of theoretical and empirical knowledge in Sociology that will serve as a foundation for Honours in Sociology.

  Students who have an Academic Standing of Suspension or Exclusion under Macquarie University's Academic Progression Policy are not permitted to enrol in OUA units offered by Macquarie University. Students with an Academic Standing of Suspension or Exclusion who have enrolled in units through OUA will be withdrawn.
