About this subject

  • On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to:

    1. Comprehend settler colonialism and race and racism in an Australian context.
    2. Discuss the social, cultural and political issues that drive Indigenous activism .
    3. Explain contemporary Indigenous identities and cultures.
    4. Examine colonial constructions of race and gender
    5. Explore societal misconceptions, ideas, attitudes and assumptions about Indigenous Australia.

    Students who have an Academic Standing of Suspension or Exclusion under Macquarie University's Academic Progression Policy are not permitted to enrol in OUA units offered by Macquarie University. Students with an Academic Standing of Suspension or Exclusion who have enrolled in units through OUA will be withdrawn.
