About this subject

  • At the completion of this subject students will be able to:

    1. demonstrate an understanding of the different meanings attached to the concept of care, and of changing patterns in the need for care across the life course
    2. discuss some of the characteristics of care in intimate interpersonal relationships and in contexts involving the provision of care to strangers
    3. recognise the importance of sociological and other research in the development of human services
    4. analyse and respond to policy documents with the planning, provision, regulation and funding of human services
    5. demonstrate capability to use research and contribute to the development of policy in the field.

    Students who have an Academic Standing of Suspension or Exclusion under Macquarie University's Academic Progression Policy are not permitted to enrol in OUA units offered by Macquarie University. Students with an Academic Standing of Suspension or Exclusion who have enrolled in units through OUA will be withdrawn.
