About this subject

  • By the end of this subject it is anticipated you should be able to:

    1. Identify the questions, theories and methods that characterise Gender Studies as an interdisciplinary field, in the context of its relationship with the social movement of feminism

    2. Articulate some of the ways in which gender, sex and sexuality--and the other identities they intersect with--shape social structures and our lives

    3. Articulate a coherent, developed account of gender and power

    4. Think critically about gender-related social problems and their ethical, political and cultural consequences

    5. Investigate the significance of cross-cultural dialogue in contemporary Gender Studies

    6. Comprehend and analyse a variety of texts (print, oral, film, multimedia) and data sources critically within their historical, social and discursive contexts.

    7. Demonstrate knowledge about Gender Studies in written and verbal communication
