About this subject

  • On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to:

    1. Examine and interpret religions in society from a diversity of viewpoints and disciplinary perspectives.
    2. Engage in critical, analytical thinking about the practices and practitioners of religion.
    3. Recognise individual and public relationships between religion and social, cultural, legal and political changes in society, from the Bronze Age period to the Hellenistic period.
    4. Analyse religions' changing ideas, practices, discourses, institutions and social expressions, with particular attention to how these relate to social and political changes in Ancient Greek society.
    5. Understand how to use and contextualise primary source materials on religion.
    6. Communicate complex and original ideas around religion in society in written and oral formats for diverse audiences.
