About this subject

  • At the completion of this subject you will be able to:

    1. recognise and critically examine a wide range of poetry styles and forms
    2. realise and be able to articulate poetry's role in both contemporary society and in daily language needs
    3. create a range of poems from a variety of poetic traditions.
    4. develop an individualised aesthetic and poetic style.
    5. display a critical understanding of poetry in terms of meaning and method and poetic devices
    6. advance creativity in language and expression
    7. know about the poetry publishing commsubjecty
    8. apply critical and imaginative responses to a wide-reading of poetry to your own work
    9. demonstrate an understanding of craft and editing skills
    10. identify and apply theoretical and practical knowledge of reading and writing poetry to own work.
